KIMU means “sprout” in Basque, a nod to our family roots and the belief that meaningful things can start small. We created KIMU around a simple idea: choose quality with care, stay rooted in purpose, and let small, consistent choices grow into something meaningful.
Built together, from the beginning.
KIMU started as a family project between a father and his two sons. We wanted to build something together that reflected the things we value: quality, curiosity, hard work and doing some good along the way.
Coffee gave us the place to start. It is something people build rituals around, share with others and continually discover. We saw an opportunity to create a coffee company that could bring those things together while becoming something our family could grow over time.
Growth should mean something.
Giving back isn’t something we wanted to add later. It has been part of KIMU from the beginning. We donate 10% of our annual profits to nonprofit organizations helping children and young people learn, grow and build brighter futures.
